Drs. Boyers, Gold team for case study
Pam Boyers, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for iEXCELâ„ , and UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., recently co-authored and published a case study titled “Training for Readiness: Learning Together,” in the February 2016 edition of Defence Global. The quarterly, tri-service publication, produced in Manchester, England, provides an essential link between defence manufacturers and suppliers, academia, government and military sectors globally. In the case study, Dr. Boyers highlights a collaborative model to improve outcomes of critical care medicine and combat casualty care.
UNMC medical graduate serves as alternate delegate to AMA
Jordan Warchol, M.D., a 2013 graduate of the UNMC College of Medicine, is representing Nebraska with a one-year term as an alternate delegate to the American Medical Association. She is in the third and final year of her emergency medicine residency. After completing her residency, Dr. Warchol will do a two-year health policy fellowship through George Washington University. As part of her fellowship, she will work in the office of senators and congressional officials to help shape future health policy.
Retirements announced
The UNMC Department of Human Resources has released a list of retirements spanning the period between March 1-July 1. All four retirements are from the UNMC College of Dentistry. Dennis Feely, D.D.S., and Eric Fung, D.D.S., both faculty members in oral biology, were the most senior members retiring. Dr. Feely has been with the college nearly 34 years, while Dr. Fung has been with the college nearly 32 years. Here’s the complete list of retirees:
- Dennis Feely, Ph.D., College of Dentistry – oral biology, will retire July 1 (start date August 18, 1982)
- Eric Fung, Ph.D., College of Dentistry – oral biology, will retire June 1 (start date July 15, 1984)
- Susan McCoy, College of Dentistry – surgical specialties, will retire April 15 (start date July 12, 1991)
- Nicholas Levering, D.D.S., College of Dentistry – growth and development, retired March 1 (start date August 1, 2012)
