COM student of the month

Editor’s Note: Each month, InterCOM will highlight a "Student of the Month" from the College of Medicine. Students will be featured for their participation in activities outside of medical school and for making a difference in the community. The goal is to recognize students for what they are doing and to encourage other students to get involved in the community. After all, medical school should be much more than studying.

Name: Ariel Tarrell

Hometown: Omaha

Program/Year: College of Medicine/Class of 2017

Education: B.S. in biochemistry & molecular biology at Marquette University

Activities:
COM Class of 2017 Co-Philanthropy Chair

Staying Balanced:

I stay balanced by making time to keep up with my hobbies! Recently I have been learning new songs on the piano. I love playing, and it is fun and relaxing. It is a good way to unwind after school work is done.

I also stay balanced by staying involved in the community. Right now I am teaching Omaha students preparing to take the GED exam. It is amazing to see students learn and to help others meet their goals.

Three things people don't know about me:

1. My favorite place in Omaha is the zoo.

2. I am a big Harry Potter fan!

3. I have lived in Washington, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Georgia, Wisconsin and Nebraska.
