Talk about your job and what you like best about it:

The best thing about my job is the variety of work – no two days are ever the same!  It's also fun working with the medical students – they tend to keep you "young" and everyone knows I am not young, being here for 45+ years.  I interact with the students the first week they are here (orientation) through the end of their tenure at the College of Medicine – culminating in the Honors Convocation and Hooding Ceremony the day before the official UNMC commencement.

I have watched students mature throughout their time and almost feel like their mother (and now grandmother!).  Students have shared things with me that they have not shared with anyone else, so I feel I get to know a lot of them quite well.

Anytime my day isn't going too well, I usually end up getting a thank-you or a nice email from someone, thanking me for something that I think is just part of my job. That makes it all worthwhile.

Your favorite memory of working at UNMC:

I have so many memories – it's hard to think of just one!  I do remember one year I played Santa Claus at Match Day. One of the faculty members had a Santa suit, so I used it and handed out match results that way. It was a lot of fun!

Hobbies:

Movies, reading, collecting Beanie Babies (yes, I still do on occasion), stuffed animals (I've not grown up yet!), cooking and watching NASCAR races.

List three things people may not know about you:

NOTE: I am pretty much an "open book," so there is not a lot that people don't know about me!

I have a HUGE collection of eye shadow.

I like to re-arrange furniture in my apartment on a regular basis.

I always wanted to be a nightclub singer (but I can't sing, so here I am!)
