UNMC’s annual membership drive for the Henry Doorly Zoo will run from Feb. 23 to March 27. UNMC employees are eligible to receive a $10 discount on membership plans at the zoo — but only between those dates! More information will be provided as we get closer to February 23.
Dr. Gold to deliver keynote address at Advocacy Day event
UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., will deliver the keynote address for the Nebraska Hospital Association’s 2016 Advocacy Day event on March 9 at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln. Dr. Gold’s address will run from 8:15 to 9 a.m. The purpose of the NHA 2016 Advocacy Day is to highlight current legislative issues impacting Nebraska hospitals and health systems and how they deliver quality and affordable care to their communities. It provides health care advocates and leaders with the opportunity to visit with and educate state senators about how health care legislation will affect them. Nebraska Medicine is one of five platinum level sponsors of the conference, which features eight different speakers. The cost to attend the conference is $60. Film Streams, Meyer Foundation team to host screening of ‘Mimi and Dona’
At 7 p.m on March 1, Film Streams and The Meyer Foundation for Disabilities will present a special free screening of “Mimi and Dona” at the Ruth Sokolof Theater. The film follows a 92-year-old mother, Mimi, who has
cared 64 years for Dona, a daughter who has an intellectual disability. The film spotlights the challenges of aging caregivers of people with intellectual
and developmental disabilities. Tickets for this special screening are free and limited to two per per person. Following the film will be a panel discussion with parents and family members who have an adult child with a developmental disability.
