Retirements announced
The UNMC Department of Human Resources released a list of retirements for November, December and January. One employee, Rod Lugert, had 48 years at UNMC, while Carla Gaul had 45 years. Four employees had more than 30 years at UNMC – Michael Christensen (38), Brenda Jeter (38), Steve Brown (33) and Maedi Bell (31). Here’s the complete list of retirees:

  • Randy Clark, security, retired Nov. 13 (start date: Jan. 9, 2002)
  • Matthew Peters, facilities management and planning, retired Dec. 1 (start date: Aug. 31, 1992)
  • Michael Christensen, chemical and radiation safety, retired Dec. 1 (start date: April 8, 1977)
  • William Woodman, sponsored programs administration, retired Dec. 1 (start date: May 12, 2003)
  • Brenda Jeter, ITS video services, retired Jan. 1 (start date: April 18, 1977)
  • David Covey, D.D.S., College of Dentistry-adult restorative, retired Jan. 1 (start date: July 1, 1994)
  • Rodney Lugert, ITS data center operations, retired Jan. 1 (start date: March 7, 1967)
  • Steve Brown, budget analysis and financial compliance, retired Jan. 5 (start date: Oct. 2, 1982)
  • Maedi Bell, ITS installation services, retired Jan. 1 (start date: May 1, 1984)
  • Carla Gaul, internal medicine-oncology/hematology, retired Jan. 9 (start date: July 18, 1968)
  • James Morgia, ITS customer support services, retired Jan. 9 (start date: Nov. 11, 1991)
  • Cynthia Van Riper, Munroe-Meyer Institute Center for Pediatric Feeding Disorders, will retire Jan. 29 (start date: Feb. 1, 1987)

Dr. Healey receives grant from the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation
Kathy Healey, Ph.D., assistant professor and nurse practitioner in the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences, has received a $25,000 grant from the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation for Nebraska Medicine’s Multiple Sclerosis Clinic house call program. The clinic provides coordinated care for those living with progressive MS to serve the unmet needs, challenges, and avoidable complications.
