The presentation, by Beverly Patchell, Ph.D., assistant professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Utah, will be video broadcast to the following locations, as well:

Dr. Patchell will speak about best-practice strategies to increase resilience factors in students in order to promote academic success.
The presentation’s objectives include:
- Describe the factors of resilience important to student success;
- Identify challenges to successful use of resilience factors in disadvantaged students; and
- Use strategies based on assessed levels of resilience in students to create effective processes for improved skill development.
The presentation will be divided into three sessions:
- 12:30-1:15 p.m.: Resilience: Factors for Student Success
- 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Resilience: Challenges Students Face
- 2:45-3:45 p.m.: Resilience: Strategies to Optimize Skill Development
The Resiliency Workshop is being funded by a Nursing Workforce Diversity grant through the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.
The UNMC College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity is provided for up to 2.75 contact hours under ANCC criteria.
