G. Bradley Schaefer, M.D., founding director, division of medical genetics, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, has informed the UNMC search committee of his decision to withdraw as a candidate for the directorship of the Munroe-Meyer Institute.
Dr. Schaefer was scheduled to visit campus this week.
Juliann Sebastian, Ph.D., chair of the search committee, said that the committee holds Dr. Schaefer in high regard and respects his decision.
“I want to thank Dr. Schaefer for his interest in this position,” Dr. Sebastian said. “We wish him well as we move forward to identify the next director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute from among the remaining outstanding candidates.”
The final candidate, Scott Kollins, Ph.D., professor, department of psychiatry & behavioral science at Duke University School of Medicine is scheduled to visit the UNMC campus in Omaha on Jan. 7-8. Dr. Kollins is vice chair for research strategy and development in psychiatry and director of the Duke ADHD program. He also has joint appointments in psychology and neuroscience.
Finalists Karoly Mirnics, M.D., Ph.D., and Pradeep Bhide, D.V.M., Ph.D., visited campus earlier this month.
