The second finalist for the position of director of the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute will visit campus this week.
Pradeep Bhide, D.V.M., Ph.D., will give a public presentation from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday in Eppley Science Hall, Room 3010.
Dr. Bhide is the Jim and Betty Ann Rodgers Eminent Scholar Chair of Developmental Neuroscience and director of the Center for Brain Repair, Department of Biomedical Sciences at Florida State University in Tallahassee.
According to the Florida State University website:
“Dr. Bhide’s research is in the fields of developmental neurobiology and neurobiology of disease. The principal focus is on the role of the neurotransmitter dopamine in brain development. Since dopamine regulates mood, motivation and motor function, Dr. Bhide’s research program has significant bearing upon multiple brain disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, early onset torsion dystonia, and neuro-cognitive consequences of pre- and early postnatal drug exposure. Dr. Bhide’s research has been supported by awards from the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense and private foundations.”
Also according to the website:
“Dr. Bhide is senior editor of the journal Developmental Neuroscience. He has served on various committees for a number of scientific organizations including the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Veterans Administration, Autism Speaks and National Parkinson’s Foundation.”
