Ashley Krienert

Name/Title: Ashley Krienert/client service representative for anatomic pathology

Hometown:  Osmond, Neb.

Talk about your job and what you like best about it:

My team and I process anatomic pathology specimens daily. Together we are able to ensure the utmost patient care by working closely with pathologists, physicians, and nurses to prepare orders for pathology testing. The most rewarding part of my job is simply recognizing that I play a small role in patient care which aids in the potential diagnosis and treatment of patients, particularly those battling cancer.

Your favorite memory of working at UNMC:

My favorite memory at UNMC was taking part in the "Super Capes for Super Kids" event this past June. Superhero capes were designed for pediatric patients at Nebraska Medicine during Lab Week and distributed along with colors and coloring pages. It was gratifying to see the children’s smiles as well as their courageous, optimistic outlook on life.

Hobbies:

In my free time I can be found on my parent’s farm in Osmond driving four-wheelers, riding along in tractors, and just being outdoors. I also love to cook, spend time with family and friends, go fishing and camping, and attend concerts.

List three things people may not know about you:

I have always had a passion for art and music. I have played the alto saxophone since I was 10 years old, and my favorite form of art is canvas painting.

I hold bachelor of science degrees in biology and neuroscience with minors in chemistry and psychology, and I am currently working on a double master’s degree.

I will always be a farm girl at heart.
