On Saturday, the historic and newly revitalized Blackstone District will host its first annual Black Saturday — a grassroots alternative to Black Friday.
It will be a day of discounts at the local businesses, capped off with a spectacular holiday lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. The lights will run down Farnam from 39th to 41st streets. Get there early to grab some food at one of the Blackstone restaurants and do some holiday shopping at the boutiques.
Everyone who takes part in the Black Saturday festivities will receive a sticker from one of the businesses to skate for free at the UNMC Ice Rink anytime from noon-8 p.m.
