  • Name: Trek Langenhan, M.D.

Professional interests:
Academic hospitalist with an emphasis in student and resident education

How I fell in love with science and medicine:
An “Introduction to Biology” course during my undergraduate education exposed me to the scientific method of asking a question and designing an experiment to find the answer. I became fascinated by this method of thinking and ultimately by using it to evaluate human health and disease.

  • UNMC Internal Medicine Residency Program, 2011-14

Previous positions:

  • Chief resident, UNMC Internal Medicine Residency Program, 2014-15

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I played college basketball at Grinnell College, the highest scoring college basketball team.
  • If I wasn’t a physician, I’d be an environmental ecologist.
  • I enjoy collecting “tchotchkes,” also known as small souvenirs or trinkets.
