How I fell in love with hematology and oncology:
I love hematology and oncology because it is one of the specialties that offers a chance to practice evidence-based medicine. It is updated every day with new drugs. I love the science of molecular pathways, targeted therapy and the fact that some of the cancers were curable in their early stages. Also, it offers me a chance to form long-lasting relationships with patients and families.
Three things people may not know about me:
- I am a good dancer. I used to take part in dancing competitions every year in my medical school but never won.
- I do not read any books except medical books even during vacation (for some reason, it looks weird to my wife).
- I have two children: Venisha, who wants to be scientist, and Eashan, who wants to be a firefighter.
Clinic hours:
Dr. Tandra will be at the Shenandoah, Iowa clinic twice a week. He also will see patients at UNMC and at the Cancer Center at Village Pointe.
