In celebration of the variety of cultures represented on campus, the second annual International Week celebration will be held Nov. 9-13.
Sponsored by the Global Health Student & Faculty Advisory Committee, International Week will provide opportunities for the UNMC community to meet and mingle with people from around the world.
The week will kick off on Nov. 9 with an exhibit of winners of the International Week photography contest. The five winning photographs will be displayed in the McGoogan Library of Medicine. All of the entries will be featured on UNMC’s Facebook page.

A timeline of the week’s events:
- Nov. 10: A morning tea will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Maurer Commons area between the Durham Research towers. Ethnic breakfast items will be provided.
- Nov. 11: A noon presentation of immigrant stories featuring Quan Dong Nguyen, M.D., chairman of the UNMC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and director of the Truhlsen Eye Institute, will be held in the Ruth H. Truhlsen Conference Center on the third floor of the Truhlsen Eye Institute.
- Nov. 12: A mid-afternoon tea will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education. A variety of ethnic foods and desserts will be provided.
- Nov. 13: An afternoon flag football tournament will be held on the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza green space. Pizza will be provided to the players.
