UNMC exceeds United Way goals

The UNMC community exceeded both of its goals for the 2015 United Way of the Midlands campaign, outdoing a fundraising goal of $155,000 by raising $170,896.50, while breaking the total campus participation goal — 50 percent — with a 53 percent participation rate.

The fundraising figure makes 2015 the second year in a row that UNMC notched its most successful campaign ever. Not only did participation exceed the 50 percent goal, but the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research joined the College of Allied Health Professions with 100 percent participation.

Final participation figures were:

  • College of Allied Health Professions: 100 percent
  • Research: 100 percent
  • College of Public Health: 97 percent
  • Chancellor’s Unit: 91 percent
  • Business and Finance: 75 percent
  • Eppley Institute: 75 percent
  • Student Affairs: 71 percent
  • College of Nursing: 60 percent
  • Academic Affairs: 56 percent
  • Munroe-Meyer Institute: 52 percent
  • College of Pharmacy: 50 percent
  • ITS: 48 percent
  • Facilities Management and Planning: 46 percent
  • College of Medicine: 44 percent

“The United Way of the Midlands helps people in need right here in our community,” said Kacie Baum, 2015 United Way campaign coordinator, who oversaw this year’s United Way campaign. “I am excited to see the support our UNMC community provided for our neighbors as a result of this campaign. The donation total is a record for UNMC, and I think the entire campus can be proud.”

Baum credited department United Way coordinators for helping to drive participation increases. (See sidebar for a list of department coordinators.)
