Beginning next week, pedestrian traffic along the north side of Dewey Avenue between 44th and 45th streets will closed for approximately two months.
The closure is in association with the required utility work for the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
Employees are asked to mention these updates to colleagues and continue to observe all safety and directional signage around the site.
Reminder: Road Closure of Dewey Avenue
Dewey Avenue is closed for road traffic until summer 2016. This closure allows site utilities and other construction activities to progress. Those planning to park in Lot 31 (near the Munroe-Meyer Institute and J.P. Lord School) should continue utilizing the reopened Durham Research Plaza (formerly 45th Street) to access parking.
Update on the Hixson-Lied skywalk construction
The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center will have a new skywalk connecting to Hixson-Lied and as a result Lot 3 parking will be unavailable for parking on Nov. 1 and 8, and possibly Nov. 15 if there are any weather delays.
In preparation for the early 2017 opening, crews need to set in place the skywalk support structures outside of the building. To minimize the impact to patients and staffs, the work will be performed on Sundays in November.
Drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution and pay attention to posted signage and staff on those specific days when approaching that section of campus.
