Members of the Midlands Sexual Health Research Collaborative, otherwise known as the Sexperts, will present “Let’s Talk About Sex (Science)” at the next Lincoln Science Café at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, at VEGA, 350 Canopy St. in Lincoln.
These three sex researchers, sometimes called sexologists, who form the Omaha-based MSHRC have broad expertise in men's and women's sexual health, sexual literacy, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender populations, HIV and STDs.
They include:
- Director Jason Coleman, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Nebraska at Omaha;
- Assistant director Aja Kneip Pelster, an instructor in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at UNO; and
- Assistant director Sofia Jawed-Wessel, Ph.D., an assistant professor of public health at UNO.
Science Cafés involve a face-to-face conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone (21 and older), and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. A scientist gives a brief presentation followed by a question and answer period.
