Dr. Mikuls now vice chair for research in UNMC Department of Internal Medicine
Ted Mikuls, M.D., Umbach Professor of Rheumatology, accepted the role of vice chair for research in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine effective
Sept. 1. “We are extremely fortunate to have Ted in this
position. He is a remarkable investigator — productive, focused and
passionate — and will assist the department in growing its research
mission,” said Debra Romberger, M.D., chair of the department, in announcing Dr. Mikuls’ new position.
Sheila Ryan, Ph.D., and Angela Vasa address International Nursing Congress in Yeravan, Armenia
Sheila Ryan, Ph.D., UNMC College of Nursing, and Angela Vasa, a nurse and volunteer with the Nebraska Medicine Biocontainment Unit, talked about global health and Ebola as keynote speakers at the Third International Nursing Congress in Yeravan, Armenia, in late September. The conference was organized by Chi Delta Chapter Yerevan State Armenian-American Medical College Erebouni in collaboration with the Asia Region of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI).
College of Nursing’s Niitsu receives APNF grant
Kosuke Niitsu, Ph.D. candidate at UNMC College of Nursing, received $10,000 research grant from the American Psychiatric Nursing Foundation (APNF) to support his dissertation research titled “Genetic Influence on Resilience to Potentially Traumatic Events.” His advisor is Julia Houfek, Ph.D. This is the sole grant being funded by APNF for 2015.
