Xiaofang Wang, Ph.D.

Xiaofang Wang, Ph.D., is a new faculty member at UNMC’s College of Pharmacy. Here’s a brief rundown of her background and the expertise she brings to campus.

Research/Professional Interests:
Dr. Wang’s research focuses on the design and synthesis of novel bioactive molecules. She is involved in core malaria and schistosomiasis research projects, in addition to collaborative projects ranging from botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs), creatine esters, glucose transporter inhibitors, toxoplasmosis to other studies of tropical diseases. She is especially interested in the computer-aided drug design and discovery process. Dr. Wang’s long-term goal is to use virtual screening to identify new and structurally diverse chemotypes as potential hits for variety of disease therapeutics.
