Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn about:
- Name: Hannah Stanzel
- Hometown: Omaha
- No. of years at UNMC: Six years
Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am an office assistant working in parking services. I assist in serving more than 10,000 parking customers (students, employees, and volunteers alike) and monitor more than 60 parking lots and areas for UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and Clarkson College. I am also a member of the TravelSmart implementation team, which is overseeing the launch of the TravelSmart program which began in June. It has been a lot of hard work and brainstorming for the last several months, and I am very excited to see the future results of our labor. For more information on the TravelSmart program, please click here.
Working together is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group act work together at UNMC.
Parking renewals, which occur every year for students and every two years for employees, is one of the most hectic times in the parking office. Not only do we have to process and send permits to more than 8,500 employees and volunteers in June and July, we also renew parking for more than 1,300 UNMC and Clarkson College students in August and September. During this time, it’s awesome to see how the whole parking department (and even members of the UNMC Bookstore!) come together to make this process work!
What is your favorite summer activity?
I enjoy watching my tulips and irises sprout and bloom. I am the farthest from having a green thumb, but luckily they tend to grow without too much interference from me! I like watching baseball with my husband, Joe, and spending time outside.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I worked as a security officer here at UNMC for three years before I transferred to parking.
- I have a fascination with fine-scale miniatures, and I am currently building my first scale dollhouse!
- I am a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
Hurray for Hannah! Always a great smile and a friendly helper. 🙂
