Parking renewal has been extended through July 31 to allow motorists time to explore and consider alternatives for commuting to work that can save employees money and reduce traffic congestion on campus. Online parking renewal will be open through July 24.
The recently unveiled TravelSmart program provides a number of benefits to faculty, staff and students who want to (or are currently) traveling to/from the 42nd and Dewey campus by biking, carpooling, taking the bus or walking.
“With the high interest in TravelSmart, we decided to give faculty, staff and students more time to consider their transportation options and determine what works best for them,” said Tina Spencer, manager of Parking Services.
Whether motorists renew their parking or not, they should retain and display their existing parking permits through the end of July. “We will honor existing permits through July 31,” Spencer said.
Parking Services will begin to send out new parking permits this week, but noted that distribution will take some time as there are almost 10,000 parkers across the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine campus.
Employees who are unable to renew online, or have not renewed online by July 24, will be sent renewal forms via campus mail.
As in the past, all contract employees can purchase parking on a month-by-month or annual basis. These individuals will be issued temporary permits.
UNMC employees can renew their parking online at the Employee Services (eServ) website by clicking “Renew Parking” in the Parking Section.
