Beginning June 1, TravelSmart will be available to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees and all students on the UNMC Omaha campus.
TravelSmart is an active transportation (biking, carpooling, taking the bus and walking) program designed to help get employees and students to the campus in means other than a single-occupant vehicle. Groups on campus started working on this project last fall, and the campus provided input on the program via forums, focus groups, surveys and emails. The program aims to:
- Provide staff and students with cost-effective options for traveling to and from campus.
- Promote active modes of travel and healthier lifestyles.
- Reduce vehicle emissions and pollution.
- Reduce parking pressure and traffic congestion on campus.
Informational forums will be held to announce the details of the TravelSmart Program. Forums will be held on June 3 at noon in the lower Storz Pavilion and at 11 p.m. in the University Tower private dining rooms.
The noon forum will be streamed live online and can be watched:
By UNMC faculty, staff and students here.
By Nebraska Medicine employees here.
It also will be archived and can be watched in the future from the TravelSmart website.
Please join us to see how TravelSmart can save you money, help the environment, reduce your stress, and reduce traffic congestion on campus.
