Lookin’ at U: Daniel McQuade

Michael McGlade

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Daniel McQuade
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • No. of years at UNMC: 46

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I work with ITS Video Services, and we provide communications services for medical education to remote sites. For years, I worked in biomedical communications, working mainly with internal medicine, anesthesiology, psychiatry and recording surgical procedures. Before working in biomedical communications, I worked in the finance office. I started in the laundry at 16 years of age.

Working together is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time that you have experienced people working together at UNMC.

There are so many times that I have witnessed staff going out of their way to provide service and assist co-workers, patients and their families that it is impossible for me to choose a specific value. I am damn proud of what UNMC/Nebraska Medicine has become.

What is your favorite spring activity?

Getting out to work in the yard and garden.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I enjoy photography.
  • I have a canine daughter, a female Norwegian Elkhound.
  • I enjoy cooking.

Dan, I hope you remember Steve Johnson, a producer/director in Biomedical Communications, Reba's bunch. I have been a bank Vice President for over 12 years. I talked with Professor Dave Ogden just the other day. I live in McCook NE and have been together with wife Melissa for 12 years and married for 6. I changed my name back to my birth name of Steven Rasmusen before my Dad passed 2 years ago. Look me up on LinkedIn.
