Student of the Month | Logan Jones

Logan Jones

Editor’s Note: Each month, InterCOM will highlight a “Student of the Month” from the College of Medicine. Students will be featured for their participation in activities outside of medical school and for making a difference in the community. The goal is to recognize students for what they are doing and to encourage other students to get involved in the community. After all, medical school should be much more than studying.

Staying Balanced:

"You don't have time NOT to exercise" – Dr. Kurtis Cornish

I think it is vitally important to take care of yourself if you expect to be able to care for others. Personally, I make sure that I get to the gym 5-6 times a week even if it’s only for 20 minutes. Also, I do my best to eat well. I make a well-balanced breakfast every day and cook healthful lunches for the week on Sunday afternoons. Finally, with a busy medical student schedule, I make sure to block out time on my calendar to spend with my fiance, family, and friends.

List three things people may not know about you:

  1. I was a dual French and biochemistry major. I did my senior thesis, in French, on the role of Doctors Without Borders in the fight against infectious diseases in Africa.
  2. I played the role of the Scarecrow in The Wiz when I was in high school.
  3. My fiance and I have a cat who we trained to use the toilet.
