Lookin’ at U – Stephanie Montgomery

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:

• Name: Stephanie Montgomery
• Hometown: Kenosha, Wis. It’s the southeast corner of the state, right between Milwaukee and Chicago. It’s the perfect location if you want to visit either of those major cities. (Go Badgers and go Packers!)
• No. of years at UNMC: I’ve been at UNMC for five months but have been in the University of Nebraska system for about three years.

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I’m the web content and social media specialist in the public relations department. I manage the official UNMC social media channels and help build community and brand awareness through the use of fun and engaging content. I also help create content for our UNMC website. Basically, I enjoy marketing and writing.

“Being a trusted resource” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us about a person or department you see as a trusted resource at UNMC.
I’m going to be biased, but the public relations department is a great (and trusted) resource for everyone on campus. From event planning to media relations to the website, there is someone in the department who can help you tell the UNMC story.

What is your favorite spring activity?
After being stuck inside for winter, I really enjoy getting outdoors when it’s nice out. I love going for walks — the fresh air helps to recharge my batteries.

List three things people may not know about you.

• I love Netflix. I binge-watched both seasons of “House of Cards” in two days so I could start the third season when it came out.
• I am obsessed with fruit. If I could eat only fruit for the rest of my life, I would (especially if it were pineapple).
• I’ve traveled to every state west of Wisconsin (minus Hawaii and Alaska — those are still on my list).
