Marty Magee

Marty Magee has a new faculty position at UNMC. Here’s a brief introduction:

  • Name: Marty Magee
  • Hometown: Elkhorn, Neb.
  • New title and department at UNMC: Instructional design librarian, McGoogan Library of Medicine

Research/Professional interests:
Distance education, library technology.

How I fell in love with library science.
Late in my work life, I discovered it was the perfect intersection of education, technology, customer service, project management and business skills that I had acquired in both corporate and academic positions.

Degrees:

  • Master of Science in Administration, University of Notre Dame
  • Master of Library Science, University of Missouri-Columbia

Memberships:

  • Medical Library Association
  • MidContinental Medical Library Association
  • ICON Health Science Library Group.

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I’ve traveled to six of the seven continents — just haven’t seen the penguins yet in Antarctica!
  • My idea of a marathon would be to read a book every day.
  • My Nebraska roots include Volga Germans and a cattle baron.
