General rheumatology with special interest in scleroderma.
How I fell in love with rheumatology:
During my time in medical school and in residency, I most enjoyed my time on the rotations where I had to really think my way through the problem at hand. I also enjoyed the opportunity to get to know my patients well over time. When I rotated through rheumatology, I knew it was the field for me. I was lucky enough to have great faculty support and mentorship from the rheumatology faculty here at UNMC to encourage me in my ultimate career path.

Three things people may not know about me:
- I hold a patent for a device to help with positioning during a lumbar puncture. During my chief resident year, I developed this with the help of UNeMed and a company based in California. (The technology is for sale if anyone or any medical device company is interested.)
- I have never completed nor entered a triathlon. My goal is to do both this year.
- My parents owned a small business in Grand Island — and not involved in medicine — but my uncle, grandfather and great grandfather all had some portion of their medical education or had an affiliation with UNMC during their career.
