Military Advanced Education (MAE) has designated UNMC a top school in its 2015 MAE Guide to Colleges & Universities, which measures best practices in military and veteran education.
“We are extremely pleased to have our military-friendly policies recognized,” said UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D. “We are committed to creating the best possible experience for our men and women in uniform as they pursue, return to, or continue their education. This designation validates the importance we place on helping our service members transform their lives for a healthy future.”
Dr. Gold recognized the work done by UNMC’s Deb Keim and the entire UNMC Student Affairs’ office, which received support from the UNMC Academic Affairs Office.
With the designation, UNMC joins its University of Nebraska sister campuses in Lincoln, Omaha and Kearney in providing military-friendly policies. MAE soon will release the guide in its December issue. It also will be available online here.
“The University of Nebraska is proud to support veterans and military students and their families by making sure we provide high-quality, flexible academic programs and services that meet their unique needs,” said University of Nebraska Interim President James Linder, M.D. “We are honored that all four of our campuses are recognized for what they do to help military students succeed in the classroom and beyond, and we look forward to continuing to serve those who have served us.”
“We believe the guide serves as an invaluable tool for both education services officers and transition officers when advising service members about their educational opportunities,” said Kelly Fodel, MAE’s editor. “We used strict criteria to individually evaluate the submissions of respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year.”
