Dr. Khan to participate in public forum
Ali S. Khan, M.D., M.P.H., will be a member of a panel at an upcoming public forum, “Problem Solving with the Internet of Things.” The event will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Admission is free. Other panelists include Dave Downing, president of the agricultural irrigation division at Lindsay Corporation; Nancy Williams, CIO at Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands and founder of No More Empty Pots; and Shonna Dorsey, managing director at Interface: The Web School.

At its November meeting, the American College of Physicians board of regents elected UNMC’s Thomas Tape, M.D., the 2015-2016 chair-elect of the board. Dr. Tape will assume the position of chair at the conclusion of the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting in May 2016 in Washington, D.C.

Omaha Magazine seeks nominations for top registered nurses
Omaha Magazine is presenting its inaugural Excellence in Nursing Awards. The magazine will honor RNs for their extraordinary contributions to patients, their families, the nursing profession and the community. Nominate one of UNMC’s top nursing professionals by clicking here and filling out a nomination form. Omaha Magazine will pay tribute to the top winners at an awards ceremony and in its May/June issue. A completed nomination form, including a detailed description of how the nurse’s actions made an important difference in the lives they serve, is required. All nurses must be currently licensed, practicing registered nurses (RNs) and work at least 20 hours a week. A national panel will review each submission and determine finalists and winners.
