The University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha will host Freezin’ for a Reason, a charity ice skating event to support families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the UNMC ice skating rink located east of 42nd street between Dewey Avenue and Emile Street in the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.
The cost is $10 per person and $5 per child, which helps support a one-night stay for a family at the Ronald McDonald House. A freewill donation is suggested for children 4 and under. All proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
For their donation participants will receive:
- Free ice skating;
- Free breakfast pastries;
- Hot chocolate bar;
- Face painting; and
- An opportunity to meet Ronald McDonald.
Again this year, people can drop off their pop tabs at the event, as well as donate items for the Ronald McDonald House wish list.
Wish list items include:
- On the go breakfast items;
- Bleach;
- Lysol;
- 35-40 gallon trash bags; and
- Latex-free gloves.
