Student spotlight: Meet Lauren Dahlquist

Lauren Dahlquist

Education is one of the four pillars of UNMC’s mission and our students are the lifeblood of that aspect of campus life. In UNMC Today’s Student Spotlight, we get to know some of these students, who will become tomorrow’s health care professionals.

Today we meet:

  • Name: Lauren Dahlquist
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • Program/Year: Second-year nursing student

What sparked your interest in nursing?
One of my greatest heroes and role models is my aunt, who has worked as a nurse for many years, leaving behind a legacy her students and patients will never forget. Growing up around her, I knew health care and honest caregiving were key points to include in my future career.

List three songs on your playlist.

  • “Be Okay,” by Oh Honey
  • “She’s Got it All,” by Tim McGraw
  • “Home,” by Phillip Phillips

Your favorite study snack is:
Chips and salsa, or cheeseburgers

Your favorite app is:
Charity Miles. Every mile you run, it will automatically donate money to a charity of your choice! That or my weather app!

Three things people may not know about you.

  • At one point, everyone in my immediate family lived in a different state.
  • By March of 2015, I will have five stamps in my passport.
  • I used to be stubborn about not wanting house pets; now I would really like a dog to run and cuddle with. (Do they clean up after themselves?!?)

I like your comment of wanting a dog. Please check out our rescue group at : LittleWhiteDogRescue.Org Hope you can find one to your liking.

Unfortunately, they do not clean up after themselves, BUT their love is SO worth whatever it takes to have them in your life! I'm a dog "mom", and my heart has totally belonged to each dog "child" we've had – ours have all been rescues and we are so grateful that each one found us! 🙂

How come you never know what people think about you until they put it in print! 🙂 Thank you Lauren.
