International Week offers ‘Quest’ for new friends

Come celebrate the variety of cultures represented on campus during International Week taking place tomorrow through Friday.

Sponsored by the Global Health Student & Faculty Advisory Committee, International Week will provide opportunities for the UNMC community to meet and mingle with people from around the world.

Today, everyone is encouraged to take part in an international Quest.

To play, participants simply need to seek out one person of another ethnicity, culture or country and ask them the following three questions:

  • Tell me three interesting facts about your culture or country?
  • What is your favorite holiday and why?
  • What is your favorite food and why?

Each Quest participant then needs to take a photo of themselves with their new friend and submit it along with both names to Danielle Dohrmann.

See example of “Quest” answers in the sidebar at right.

A drawing will be held and the winner announced next week in UNMC Today along with a Flickr’ slideshow of the participants and their new friends.

Among the other events taking place this week are:

  • Nov. 4: Photo contest winners are announced at an event featuring ethnic desserts and tea from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the student commons on the second floor of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education.
