The Nebraska Physical Therapy Association (NPTA) honored Joe Norman, Ph.D., director of physical therapy education, with the Mary Ellen Sacksteder Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Physical Therapy. It is the NPTA’s highest honor. UNMC School of Allied Health alums Jessica Turner, D.P.T., and Lisa Black, D.P.T., were honored with the Achievement in Education and Physical Therapist Clinical Excellence awards, respectively.

The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality will hold its 2014 annual meeting in Omaha. (UNMC’s Christopher Fisher, Ph.D., is a member of the program committee for the meeting.) The event will be held from Nov. 6 to 9 at the Hilton Doubletree. Plenary speakers at the conference include Colin Adamo of Advocates for Youth on the topic “Are We There Yet? Sharing the Road Toward the Sexual Frontier”; Brad Clark of Human Rights Campaign on “Two Americas: The Experiences of LGBT Americans”; Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award Winner Jim Phaus, Ph.D., on “The Pleasure Principle Revisited: How Sexual Pleasure Links Sexual Arousal, Desire, Preference, and Performance”; a Journal of Sex Research 50th Anniversary Plenary Panel featuring Bill Fisher, Ph.D., Shari Dworkin, Ph.D., Janet Shibley, Ph.D., and Debby Herbenick, Ph.D., as well as others.
