Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I maintain the satellite office for UNeMed and provide support for the research resources manager of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.
“Being a trusted resource” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us a bout a person or group you consider a “trusted resource” at UNMC.
Melanie Stewart is a trusted resource at UNMC. For the past several years she has served as a liaison between Facilities Management and the researchers in the Durham Research Centers, coordinating lab moves and making sure researchers’ facility needs are taken care of. She coordinated moving research labs out of Swanson Hall and into new spaces so construction could begin on the new Cancer Center. As a volunteer she coordinated Earth Week activities, expanded recycling on campus, and facilitated efforts aimed at saving energy and reducing the overall cost of utilities. As the new Sustainability Coordinator for both Nebraska Medicine and UNMC she continues to focus on ways to save energy, reduce costs, and create a healthier environment for the overall community.
