Monirul Islam, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of epidemiology in the College of Public Health, will lead a discussion entitled “Lessons Learned about Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) in Advanced Lung Cancer Patients” from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005.
The forum is a presentation of The Program of Excellence: Expanding Comparative Effectiveness in Nebraska.
Dr. Islam will be joined by patient advocate June Ryan and Apar Ganti, M.D., associate professor of hematology/oncology in the College of Medicine.
Dr. Islam is the principal investigator of a three-year multicenter Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute-funded study. He will describe the preparation and background work needed for successful patient-centered outcomes research.
Ryan will provide the patient’s and patient advocate’s perspective and talk about being key personnel in PCOR.
Dr. Ganti, co-investigator of the study, will speak about the practical aspects of conducting PCOR from the physician’s perspective.
