James Beaudoin |
Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:
- Name: James Beaudoin
- Hometown: The Hague, Holland
- No. of years at UNMC: In November I will have been working here for one year.
Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am working as a Data Curator/Coordinator II in the group of Howard Fox, M.D., Ph.D. Together with the bioinformatics group of Babu Guda, Ph.D., I am generating a relational database containing all experimental data from studies performed on specimens (primarily brain tissue) from the National NeuroAIDS Tissue Consortium (NNTC) in the last 15 years.
Commitment to excellence is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of an experience you’ve had at UNMC that demonstrates this commitment to excellence.
My most recent experience of UNMC’s excellence concerns the current treatment of the American physician who contracted the Ebola virus. The progress this patient is making, and the manner in which employees are kept up to date regarding this situation, demonstrates UNMC’s commitment to excellence in my opinion.
What is your favorite fall activity?
I moved to the US from Holland a year ago, and over there I have become used to incessant rain during the fall. Since the weather is much nicer (especially drier) here, I will be outside with my wife a lot more. We love to keep active.
List three things people may not know about you.
- Not so long ago, I knew nothing about cooking, but since I started taking up cooking I have found out I am actually a natural cook!
- I am a huge dog lover and cannot wait to get a new puppy sometime in the new year!
- I am a neat freak.
James is the man!
