United Way campaign to kick off today

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands is one of the organizations supported by the United Way of the Midlands.

UNMC and the clinical enterprise will stand together in support of the annual United Way of the Midlands campaign.

Each entity has set an individual goal to raise $150,000 this year, for a campus total of $300,000.

Beginning today, employees from both organizations will begin receiving emails from the United Way that contain a personalized link to donate. Employees who wish to participate should follow the instructions provided in the emails. The campaign will conclude on Oct. 3.

Recently, the United Way of the Midlands conducted a thorough process to assess the needs of the community and determine where funds are most needed. Details on the current priority funding areas can be found by clicking here.

Supporting the United Way is a great way to ensure your funds will be used to help address the biggest issues for people right here in this community.
United Way donations can be payroll deducted over the course of the year, with the first deduction beginning in January.

New this year, employees can opt to pay for their donation online with a credit or debit card. Instructions for each payment option are provided as part of the online pledging process.

To help meet the campaign goal and encourage participation, generous donors have provided several prizes as incentives. Employees of UNMC who pledge a minimum of $20 to the United Way during the first or second weeks of the campaign (Sept. 15-Sept. 28) will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win $100 Visa cash cards donated by Metro Health Services Federal Credit Union and a pair of Husker football tickets for the Oct. 25 game or the Nov. 1 game.

Employees of UNMC who donate a minimum of $5 to the United Way are invited to a free ice cream social event on Sept. 26 from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, second floor commons. To receive free ice cream, employees must show a printout receipt of their United Way pledge.

The final week of the United Way campaign there will be additional drawings for gift cards from local businesses and all employees who donated will be eligible to win.

Drawings will take place each Friday at 4 p.m. Winners will be announced in UNMC Today the following Monday.
