“Creature Comforts: The Joy and Heartbreak of Companion Animals” is the topic of the Sept. 16 Olson Center for Women’s Health “Brown Bag” luncheon presentation.
According to recent statistics, approximately 70 million dogs and 75 million cats live in U.S. households. The human-animal bond is an incredible phenomenon that is a constant source of undying loyalty, devotion, and unconditional love.
Susan Smith, of the UNMC Faculty/Employee Assistance Program, will explore the unique connection many pet owners enjoy with their companion animals and address the health benefits of these relationships along with the “disenfranchised grief” many people face when their beloved companions die.
The event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from noon to 1 p.m. in the UNMC Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. Seating is limited; please pre-register by calling the Olson Center at 402-559-6345. Bring your lunch. Simple refreshments will be provided.
The lectures are free. However, nursing credit is available at a cost of $10. Payment instructions will be given when you pre-register.
The UNMC College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
