Shaffer new associate dean at College of Pharmacy

Christopher Shaffer, Pharm.D., has assumed the role of associate dean for student affairs in the College of Pharmacy.

He takes over for Charles Krobot, Pharm.D., who stepped aside June 30. Dr. Shaffer, an assistant professor of pharmacy practice, has been at UNMC for the past four years, after having served as pharmacy director at The Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.

He currently is finishing a Ph.D. in clinical and translational research with a focus in pediatrics. Dr. Shaffer also serves as director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Pharmacology Research Unit.

Dr. Shaffer is eager to take on his new role during a time of great opportunity for pharmacy students, both with a shifting health care landscape and with the building of the new Lozier Center for Pharmacy Sciences and Education/UNMC Center for Drug Discovery.

“I am particularly excited to help pharmacy students find their voices within the changing pharmacy profession,” Dr. Shaffer said.
