UNMC College of Pharmacy research poster projects were recently featured at an international conference, thanks to the work of an enterprising alum.
Lt. Col. Robin McCready, Pharm.D., a U.S. Air Force pharmacist and commander of the 920th Aerospace Medicine Flight, displayed the UNMC posters at the Interallied Confederation of Medical Reserve Officers (CIOMR) recent Summer Congress in Fulda, Germany.
CIOMR is an international health organization that unites the military medical personnel of NATO member states.
Lt. Col. McCready, 1999 pharmacy graduate, asked Jeffrey Baldwin, Pharm.D., professor of pharmacy practice and pediatrics, a mentor and friend during her time as a student, about possible posters. The Department of Pharmacy Practice responded with three projects, and all three were accepted.
The posters highlighted pharmacy practice’s ongoing “point of care” clinical research projects.
Ally Dering-Anderson, Pharm.D., clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice, met with Lt. Col. McCready at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) annual convention, then mailed her the posters to take to Germany.
Fourth-year pharmacy student Carolyn Corn was first author of two of the three posters.
The College of Pharmacy is thrilled that Lt. Col. McCready exposed its work to an international audience of military medical professionals.
“She’s an alumnus and we supported her,” said Dr. Dering-Anderson, “but more than that, she supported us!”
