eSHOP winners honored for streamlining procurement

The following award winners were honored at the UNMC Department of Procurement and Materials Management eSHOP annual awards ceremony and forum:

  • Information Technology Services: Kim Strohbehn, Linda Johnson, Marla Hopson and Liz Sharon for innovative use of eSHOP workflow and automation of processes.
  • College of Medicine – Library of Medicine: Dorothy McCarthy and Karen Foster for implementing a new process for handling library contracts.
  • College of Medicine – Internal Medicine: Galen Kathol and Lisa Runco for effectively implementing the Super User Role for training and department education.
  • College of Pharmacy: Jim Gamerl, Chris Allmon and Jamie Arbaugh for increased usage of eSHOP within labs.
  • College of Medicine – Surgery: Carin Borg and Stacia Luther for challenging processes and improving eSHOP efficiency.

“UNMC has moved more than 83 percent of purchase orders previously entered in SAP to the more user friendly eSHOP system,” said Deb Thomas, associate vice chancellor for business and finance.

Department input continues to be important for eSHOP’s development and ongoing system improvements, she said.

KT Nelson, procurement manager, announced the new theme for fiscal year 2015: Driving Innovation.

“Innovation for us is taking our historically ‘office’ role (transactional) and re- positioning procurement to create a substantial financial impact on the university,” she said. “Campus users and procurement will be more actively connected than ever before.”
