For the seventh straight year, The Nebraska Medical Center will turn into a barber shop for a few hours on July 11.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is planning its annual Shave-a-thon in the west atrium of the Durham Outpatient Center.

During the event, volunteers have their heads shaved to show support for pediatric cancer patients. The medical center family is again joining to create a powerful fundraising team for the foundation. Anyone interested in joining the team can sign up online by clicking here. The team has a fundraising goal of $10,000 this year.

Aside from the federal government, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest source of research funds for pediatric cancer research in the United States. It raised more than $34 million in 2013.
