Residents of south Omaha are invited to a community reception to meet new University of Nebraska Medical Center chancellor, Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., on Wednesday, May 21.
Hosted by several organizations, the reception will take place at El Museo Latino, 4701 S. 25th St., from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dr. Gold will make brief remarks at 5:30 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
“I am looking forward to meeting the people of south Omaha and hearing their thoughts on how UNMC can better partner with the community to meet their health needs,” Dr. Gold said.
The event’s host organizations include the Heartland Latino Leadership Conference, Heartland Worker Center, Intercultural Senior Center, Latino Center of the Midlands, One World Community Health Center and South Omaha Community Care Council.
“We look forward to welcoming Chancellor Gold. We know that he seeks to deepen his knowledge of Omaha’s diverse communities and their needs,” said Carolina Quezada, executive director of the Latino Center of the Midlands. “He will see that south Omaha is eager to strengthen its relationship to UNMC to address the evolving needs of this vibrant community.”
Everyone is encouraged to attend and to share their thoughts, Quezada said.
