UNMC College of Dentistry offers free seminar to dental health professionals

Faculty from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry will go to Grand Island, North Platte and Scottsbluff to provide training to dental health professionals on the impact of chemical dependency on dental patient management and premedication and anticoagulants in daily dental practice.

The annual UNMC College of Dentistry Dental Education Caravan will feature presentations by oral biology department professors, Eric Fung, D.D.S., and Nagamani Narayana, D.D.S. Those who attend can receive 3.5 hours of free continuing dental education credit.

In addition, John Reinhardt, D.D.S., dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry, will present a brief update on education, research, patient care and outreach activities at the college. Dr. Reinhardt and the other presenters are available for media interviews following the presentations.

The programs will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at each of the following locations:

                           

May 13 – North Platte, Quality Inn & Suites

May 14 – Scottsbluff, Harms Advanced Technology Center at Western Nebraska Community College

May 15 – Grand Island, Quality Inn & Suites (formerly Interstate Holiday Inn)

The agenda at each location is as follows:

1 p.m. – Greeting and introduction by Merlyn Vogt, D.D.S., assistant professor in the department of surgical specialties.

1:10 p.m. – UNMC College of Dentistry update – Dr. Reinhardt.

1:30 p.m. – “Impact of Chemical Dependency on Dental Patient Management” – Dr. Fung

3:15 p.m. – “Premedication and Anticoagulants in Daily Dental Practice” – Dr. Nagamani Narayana
