Bridge to Care continues eyeglass drive

Ruti Margalit, M.D., director of the Service Learning Academy

With 300 pairs of glasses to go, Bridge to Care, a legacy project of the Service Learning Academy in the College of Public Health, continues to collect glasses for local refugees from all over the world. Many of these refugees have never seen an eye doctor in their life.

Donated glasses will be catalogued by prescription/size with the help of UNMC Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. The glasses then will be distributed at the Bridge to Care Health Fair taking place during World Refugee Day on June 21 at Benson High School. So far, the group has collected 100 pairs of glasses toward a goal of 400.

Drop off/delivery options are:

  • Second floor Sorrell Center, near the vending machines.
  • Third floor Sorrell Center, by the northeast entrance near the lockers.
  • Mail to Ruti Margalit, College of Public Health, campus ZIP 4365.
