Photos showcase diversity

Clayton Damme – “Latraviesa”

The richness of diversity on the UNMC campus was the focus of the first International Week celebration in early November.

Sponsored by the Global Health Student & Faculty Advisory Committee, the celebration provided opportunities for the UNMC community to meet and mingle with faculty, students and staff who hail from other parts of the world.

Among the many activities during the week was an international photography contest. Every year, international visitors from more than 60 countries come to campus and many faculty, staff and students travel around the world. Entrants were encouraged to share those experiences.

Forty-six photographs were submitted for consideration, and of those, five rose to the top as the most aesthetically appealing. From that group, one was honored as the best in show.

Omaha area photographers and UNMC approved vendors Scott Dobry and Philip Nealey chose the five entries listed for their interesting and colorful imagery.

The grand prize winner, Clayton Damme, M1, who submitted “Latraviesa,” was praised by the judges for his “bold use of color, strong composition and great light.”
