Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
As a member of the AskUs team working in the McGoogan Library, I am a very lucky medical librarian. I have the daily opportunity to connect people directly to the vital information they need to do their important work. The people I serve include UNMC and Nebraska health professionals, health professions students and health care consumers. I teach and coach information seekers on how to use technology to locate references and data sources themselves, I scan information sources to help myself and my customers stay current on specific topics, and I search directly for information when requested. All questions are welcome — I love the hunt! Leadership is one of UNMC's brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed leadership at UNMC.
The way that UNMC values leadership as an organization is one of the reasons I was drawn to work here. During 2012-2013 as a member of the development committee for iLEAD, I witnessed a cohort of individuals gaining new skills, growing as leaders and taking charge with their individual and collaborative projects. Their desire to be the best leaders they can be continues to influence the health of Nebraskans and the education of future health professionals. I am in awe of the power brought forth through the leadership development that I witnessed during iLEAD and greatly respect UNMC for supporting it. What is your favorite spring activity?
Driving in the sunshine! List three things people may not know about you.

  • I have presented in the National Library of Medicine boardroom.
  • I wanted to be a mechanic and a librarian when I grew up.
  • My bucket list includes judging a cooking show.

Teri is one of the most considerate and generous employees I have had the pleasure of meeting since I began working for the UNMC. Teri goes far beyond anyone's expectations, ensuring not only my question(s) get answered but how to find the answer the next time I need it. She is kind, gentle-natured and it's obvious she loves her job. Thank you, Teri, for all the assistance you have provided me through the past few years. I look forward to many more opportunities to ask for your assistance.

Teri is retired military – we also need to thank her for her service to our country – that's a big deal!

Thank you all for the kind words and for making this a wonderful place to work! Clarification – former military librarian (civilian position). Dear husband is the one with military service, and he is grateful for the thanks.
