We are pleased to announce that this was our third straight month of high volumes across the clinical enterprise. With nearly every bed full and clinics also very busy, we want to recognize your commitment to doing the most we can to serve our community.
Amidst our day-to-day business activities, we also want to thank you for the work you’re doing to drive our transformation efforts forward, with the goal to optimize the health of our patients.
During our last employee forums in January, we announced the new clinical enterprise leadership structure. Since then, this leadership team has been working diligently to determine the best ways to serve this organization and develop a team- and patient-based culture. We each set goals for how we’ll work better together and act as the most effective leader possible through this time of change.
I wanted to take a minute to share some of my own goals with you and how I’ve been working toward them.
One of my personal goals has been to spend more time in the hospital, working with our care-provider teams across the clinical enterprise to better understand the function of the organization and our patients’ experiences.
One of the things I’ve done in pursuit of this goal was to serve as the attending physician in the inpatient infectious disease consult service at The Nebraska Medical Center earlier this month.
This activity reminded me of the complexity of our working environment and the patients we care for, which are two of the reasons why we need to move to a more effective care delivery system and a more team-based approach.
In these rounds, I also was reminded of the dedication of our providers and staff in making sure our patients get the highest quality of care possible. If you see me on the wards, feel free to stop me and let me know how you think things are going and how we can continue to improve.
We’ll be hosting another set of employee forums on March 17 and 18. The logistical details are below in this email. We hope you will join us then to hear updates on our culture transformation and other performance improvement news. Equally important, we want to field your questions.
Finally, our Culture Transformation Survey was distributed on March 8 via email. We sincerely ask that everyone take 15 to 20 minutes to complete this survey, which is one of the first steps in our journey toward culture transformation.
Your input is vital to defining our current state and determining what steps we can take going forward. Thank you in advance for taking time out of your busy days to share with us as we shape our future culture.
