Editor’s Note: Each month, InterCOM will highlight a “Student of the Month” from the College of Medicine. Students will be featured for their participation in activities outside of medical school and for making a difference in the community. The goal is to recognize students for what they are doing and to encourage other students to get involved in the community. After all, medical school should be much more than studying.

Staying Balanced:
This may not be the traditional way people ‘stay balanced’ but my husband is away from home for work Sunday-Thursday, so I was able to stay balanced by trying to do my studying during the week so I had time during the weekend to spend with my husband.
If I needed time away from school during the week I would spend time running, working out or doing one of my other hobbies until I was able to gain enough perspective and be refreshed enough to go back to studying.
I also found some volunteer opportunities that were unrelated to medical school.
