William Burke, M.D.

The campus community is invited to a farewell party for William Burke, M.D., to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the University Tower Private Dining Room C. Dr. Burke is leaving UNMC after spending 30 years with the university, holding the Anna O. Stake Professorship of Psychiatry, and serving as the vice chairman for research in the department of psychiatry. He was honored as one of the 2008 UNMC Distinguished Scientists and has been named one of “America’s Top Doctors” by Castle Connolly.

Clarkson College’s Diversity Council will be holding a Diversity Book Club this spring, and members of the UNMC community are invited to attended. The club’s spring reading list will include “Once Upon a Town: The Miracle of the North Platte Canteen,” by Bob Greene, “Divergent,” by Veronica Roth, and “Enrique’s Journey” by Sonia Nazario. To sign up, send an email to Sharon Mantz — book leaders will send out an informational email, including meeting times, in early March. Please RSVP before Feb. 28.
