Education is one of the four pillars of UNMC’s mission, and our students are the lifeblood of that aspect of campus life.

In UNMC Today’s Student Spotlight, we get to know some of these students, who will become tomorrow’s health care professionals.

Today we meet:

Name: John Francis Guynan
Hometown: Schuyler, Neb.
Program/Year: Medicine, fourth year

What sparked your interest in ear, nose and throat?
I love the fact that ENT/Head and Neck surgery allows me to work with a broad range of people and ages. The anatomy is amazing, and I love to be able to make a big difference with a number of relatively short procedures.

List three songs on your playlist.

Your favorite study snack is:
Almonds

Your favorite app is:
IMDB (so I can easily answer my wife’s “What other movie is she in?” questions).

Three things people may not know about you:

My wife Jenna and I have an amazing 4.5-month-old baby boy who specializes in waking us up twice a night.
I enjoy reading about city planning/architecture/city aesthetics.
I once placed third in the state pedal tractor pull back in the day at the Nebraska State Fair, a crowning achievement in my childhood.
